Physiotherapy Assessment
The functional assessment, the first meeting between the physiotherapist and the patient, is a key stage in determining the most appropriate treatment techniques.
The physiotherapist uses a range of methods to gather information about the patient, including an interview, observation of movement patterns, assessment of joint and muscle function, superficial and deep sensation, balance, and functional tests such as walking, climbing stairs and performing specific movements.
This allows the physiotherapist to identify the patient’s movement disorder or disorders, residual functional abilities and any compensatory strategies, in order to develop the most effective personalised treatment plan.

Postural rehabilitation
Postural rehabilitation consists of a series of exercises designed to restore muscular balance and may help address chronic problems such as back and neck pain. Postural exercises can help improve posture and balance.

Static and Dynamic Postural Rehabilitation Techniques
GAIT TRAINING
Gait training is a rehabilitation therapy aimed at retraining and restoring walking ability. Neurological, orthopaedic or traumatic conditions may impair a person’s ability to walk or lead to altered movement patterns and deformities. Gait rehabilitation may therefore be necessary in both static and dynamic phases, using functional exercises designed to restore appropriate movement patterns and help the patient regain independence.
FUNCTIONAL REHABILITATION
Functional rehabilitation aims to restore the correct function of a specific part of the body within the body’s overall functional system.
Body function refers to the ability to perform a specific task and, consequently, to interact effectively with the surrounding environment.
This ability may be lost or reduced as a result of trauma, surgery, various medical conditions or neurological events. The therapist uses a range of manual techniques and therapeutic approaches aimed at restoring each patient’s functional abilities as close as possible to their optimal level, taking into account their individual needs.
PELVIC FLOOR REHABILITATION AND HYPOPRESSIVE EXERCISE
Pelvic floor rehabilitation is a personalised rehabilitation programme carried out under the guidance of a physiotherapist specialised in pelvic floor rehabilitation. It helps patients develop greater awareness and control of the pelvic floor and may be used in the management of conditions such as urinary incontinence and abdominal diastasis.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Manual lymphatic drainage is a specialised massage technique used on areas of the body affected by impaired lymphatic circulation and fluid accumulation (lymphoedema). It is designed to promote lymphatic drainage and support the normal function of the lymphatic system.

Dermato-Aesthetic Physiotherapy
Dermato-aesthetic physiotherapy is a specialised area of physiotherapy focused on the prevention, assessment, rehabilitation and non-invasive treatment of conditions affecting the skin and subcutaneous tissues.
It may help in the rehabilitation and management of:
- Skin and subcutaneous tissue changes associated with fluid accumulation (cellulite)
- Primary and post-surgical oedema, including following mastectomy
- Pre- and post-plastic surgery rehabilitation:
- abdominoplasty (including rectus diastasis), blepharoplasty, rhinoplasty, facelift, liposuction and liposculpture
- Localised adiposity
- Rehabilitation following dental and cranio-mandibular surgery
- Age-related changes in the skin
- Scar and burn management
The aim is to help reduce tissue oedema, support skin nutrition and hydration, facilitate the healing process, promote arterial and venous circulation, improve fluid drainage and reduce fluid retention in the tissues, while also contributing to the patient’s overall physical and psychological well-being.

Functional Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is a long-established therapeutic approach involving a range of manual techniques applied to the body. It may help relieve muscle and joint pain, reduce muscle tension and stiffness, improve tissue tone and promote an overall sense of physical and psychological well-being.

Pompage Therapy
Pompage is a gentle manual physiotherapy technique based on slow, progressive stretching of the joints and muscles. Through alternating phases of tension and relaxation, these movements are designed to improve joint mobility, reduce muscle tension and help relieve pain.

Diadynamic Currents
Diadynamic currents are low-frequency electrical currents commonly used in physiotherapy, particularly for their analgesic effect and to help relieve pain.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation
Electrical muscle stimulation is a therapeutic technique used in the management of conditions associated with reduced muscle strength. It can be used to stimulate muscle activity and help maintain or improve muscle function when this has been impaired by injury or other medical conditions.
BIO MEDICAL CENTER
Interferential Current Therapy
Interferential current therapy uses electrical currents that can reach deeper tissues while remaining comfortable for the patient. The characteristics of these currents allow therapeutic stimulation to be delivered with minimal sensory perception, making the treatment generally well tolerated.

Iontophoresis
Iontophoresis is a technique used to deliver medication through the skin (transdermal administration) using a low-intensity electrical current.

Magnetotherapy
Magnetotherapy uses magnetic fields as part of physical therapy and rehabilitation programmes.

TECAR Therapy
TECAR stands for Capacitive and Resistive Energy Transfer. The treatment uses electrodes to transfer electromagnetic energy to the tissues in the area being treated.
This energy transfer produces endogenous heat and may stimulate local physiological responses. TECAR therapy is used in physiotherapy and rehabilitation to help manage pain and inflammation, promote tissue recovery, reduce oedema and support muscle relaxation.

TENS
TENS stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation, a non-invasive technique that uses low-voltage electrical currents and is commonly used to help manage certain types of acute and chronic pain.

Therapeutic Ultrasound
Therapeutic ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves and is commonly used in physiotherapy as part of the treatment of various musculoskeletal conditions. It may help support tissue recovery, reduce pain and improve soft-tissue mobility.
